Callie was found with her seven puppies abandoned behind a store. She was emaciated and doing everything she could to take care of her babies. Thankfully, a good samaritan found her and reached out to us to help.
Callie is a very sweet girl, and a little timid when she first meets someone. Once she is comfortable, you are greeted with the cutest wiggle that takes over her whole body! Callie adores food of course, and has learned that peanut butter, cheese, and wet food are the finer things in life. While squeaky toys do tend to make her nervous, Callie loves to follow her fosters around and present herself for a good belly rub. She also will push her head into your hands, to remind you that she loves her head being scratched. She has already mastered how to sit and lets her folks know when she needs to go out.
It is obvious that while Callie is somewhat house trained, that it's been a long time for her if ever, that she has been in a loving and safe environment. She is learning all about house sounds and what it is to trust that her fosters will keep her safe and she doesn't have to worry about things anymore. She is exploring what it is like to walk on leash and figuring out what it means to play.
Currently, Callie is still underweight and tending to her puppies. She also will be getting heartworm tested and spayed after she is finished nursing her babies, so she is not available yet for adoption. But please check back in! This sweet girl is so excited to learn what it is like to be loved and taken care of for the rest of her life.
